There are three file that make use of the file extension PPS. These are, Paint shop pro image, Personal Producer Storyboard and Microsoft PowerPoint slideshow. The PPT may then be referred to as the Power Point Presentation file extension. Thus the PPS file extension is often associated with PowerPoint. More over, it may be opened and even edited using PowerPoint. The PowerPoint viewer may also be used for purposes of viewing the extension. Still, PPS files may be opened and edited using other programs such as Open Office and StarOffice

Cannot open pps files in Windows?

Not being able to open pps files in Windows may be a result of registry errors or not having the appropriate application installed. It is strongly recommended that you scan your computer for registry errors (free).

Sometimes users may have problems opening their PowerPoint files. This problem arises in instances where the user’s PowerPoint version is much older than the version that was used to create the files. The solution then lies in the user installing the older earlier versions for purposes of opening and viewing the files. In instances that the user does not have PowerPoint, Microsoft viewer comes to the rescue with a free PowerPoint viewer which is very convenient for the user. Again, the free OpenOffice.org office suite may be used. The suite’s presentation part is able to both display and edit the PowerPoint presentations.
